摘要

The Large Hadron Collider at CERN is the most powerful machine. We have ever build aiming at understanding the standard model of particle  physics and searching for any new physics beyond. After the exciting discovery of the Higgs boson now people are awaiting for more new phenomenon to come. Any of the discovery at the LHC rely on precision theoretical predictions from Quantum Chromodynamics. In this talk I will briefly discuss two most important ingredients for making such predictions, namely the parton distribution functions and the perturbative calculation. I will show you most recent development focusing on a few applications.

报告人简介

Dr. Jun Gao is a postdoctoral fellow in the Argonne National Laboratory. He received his B.S. degree in physics in 2006 and his Ph.D in theoretical physics in 2011 at Peking University. After his graduation, he worked as a postdoc at Southern Methodist University till 2014 and then moved to Argonne National Laboratory. His major research interests focus on collider phenomenology of the standard model and beyond, especially on parton distribution functions and pertrubative QCD calculations.
